Prof. Daniel K Ojuka Elected Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences

Prof. Daniel K Ojuka was elected Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences on August 27, 2025. He has been serving as Chair of the Department of Surgery since December 2024

A respected general surgeon and academic leader, Prof. Ojuka has made significant contributions to surgical education and research. His vision and dedication will now benefit the entire faculty as he takes on this new role.

10th Annual Surgical Management and Reconstructive training (SMART)

On May 27th-30th 2025,The University of Nairobi Orthopedic Surgery residents attended the 10th Annual Surgical Management and Reconstructive training (SMART)course at the Muhimbili orthopedic Institute in Dar-Es-Salaam,Tanzania.
The course focused on treatment of soft tissue and bone trauma as well as soft tissue reconstruction, consisting of theoretical lectures, practical sessions and cadaveric practice.
International and local faculty from the Institute of Global Orthopedics and Traumatology and The Muhimbili orthopedic institute were in attendance.

Visit by Esteemed Professor from the University of Kentucky Marks a Milestone in Annual Neuro-Otology Lecture Series

The University of Nairobi recently had the honour of hosting Prof. Matthew Lee Bush, a distinguished Visiting Professor in Neuro-Otology from the University of Kentucky, alongside his Chief Resident, Dr. Brian Kinealy, for the Annual Lecture Series on Neuro-Otology. This eagerly anticipated event brought together Otorhinolaryngology and Neurosurgery residents for an enriching academic experience.

UoN Final Year MB ChB July/August 2024 Surgery Examinations

452 students undertook the July/August 2024 UoN MB ChB degree course final year examinations which ended on Friday August 16, 2024. The Examinations were conducted efficiently with no incidents of examination malpractice recorded. The Chairman of UoN Department of Surgery Dr Julius Githinji Kiboi at the examination board meeting held on Friday August 16, 2024, congratulated the staff for the exemplary performance.
