UoN Department of Surgery Microvascular Surgery Workshop dates are 11th to 14th April 2022. International facilitators are from Italy, England and Argentina.
The reconstructive microsurgery surgical skills and cadaver dissection course for postgraduate students was held from 11th to 14th April, 2022.
The course is being held at Kenyatta National Hospital theatre led a team of surgeons from Italy.
Three postgraduate students from the Department of Surgery were awarded Smile Train Scholarships.
The world’s largest cleft-focused organization, Smile Train, has partnered with the leading University in the region, University of Nairobi, through the Department of Surgery to offer full scholarships to medical residents based in Africa to study plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Edward Mairura, a Kenyan orthopedic surgeon based in Dallas, Texas in USA donated a set of surgical equipment to the Department of Surgery on 5th January, 2022.
The donation by the orthopedic surgeon at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center included; Stryker Huffman fixators, endotracheal tubes, vicryl sutures, pulse oximitars, and culture tubes.
