Student's Surgical Forum (SSF) is a dynamic platform founded in 2018, dedicated to fostering the interest in surgery and enhancing surgical skills among medical students in Kenya. This student-run organization has rapidly grown, now boasting over 950 members spanning across eight prestigious medical universities in the country.
SSF stands out by focusing on peer-to-peer training, providing a unique environment for students to develop scientific and surgical skills collaboratively. The organization offers a range of opportunities, including basic and advanced surgical skills training, student surgeon mentorship, surgical electives, trauma evaluation assessment and management, as well as informative webinars to keep members updated on breakthroughs in the surgical practice.
Excitingly, SSF is gearing up for a significant event – the SSF Conference, scheduled for December 2nd, 2023. The theme of the conference is "Navigating Success in Medicine: Strategies for Professional Growth and Impact." The sub-themes reflect the diverse aspects of a successful medical career, including mentorship, leadership, and allyship; personal branding; the business of medicine; the HealthTech sector; and the role of research.
Mark your calendars for this insightful event that will take place from 8 am to 4 pm at the prestigious Chandaria Auditorium, located at the University of Nairobi Towers. Whether you are a medical student eager to enhance your skills or someone interested in the ever-evolving field of surgery, the SSF Conference promises to be a rewarding experience.
