Institutional Collaboration: Academic and Residency Advancements with Smile Train International

The Department recently concluded a productive consultative meeting with the Smile Train International delegation, led by the Vice President and Africa Regional Director, Mrs. Nkeiruka Obi. The meeting was hosted on behalf of the department by Professor Wanjala Nangole to discuss strengthening collaboration and ensuring the sustainability of key departmental programs. Smile Train International has indicated a strong commitment to providing continued support for several of our strategic initiatives, most notably the residency sponsorship program which directly funds and supports our current registrar training. Furthermore, this enduring partnership will extend to our annual scientific conferences to facilitate continuous medical education, as well as the Pan African Journal of Plastic Surgery to advance regional research and academic publications. The Department expresses its sincere gratitude to Professor Nangole for leading these discussions, and to Smile Train International for their invaluable investment in the training of our residents and the advancement of plastic surgery across the region.
