Orthopaedic unit of surgery held annual orthopaedic screening camp from 29th to 31st may 2023 in St Theresa mission hospital Kiirua. Many patients benefitted with free orthopaedic consultation and free physiotherapy consultation.
The condition screened included but not limited to : back pain, joint pains, ligament tears, frozen shoulder, severe osteoarthitis of the hip, spine and knee.

Department of surgery together with KASPRAS and KNH organized for a four days microsurgey workshop. several patients benefitted with surgeries held on 24th and 25th April in KNH theatres, later on during the week on 26th and 27th the team proceeded to Nssc for cadaver dissection

Prof Griffith R Harsh who previously served as a professor of neurosurgery and also associate dean of CME education at Stanford University medical center has been appointed as honorary lecturer in neurosurgery unit in the department of surgery. The letter of appointment was handed to him during his visit to the department.
Prof. Griffith is certified in Neurolgical surgery by the America Board of Neurological Surgery. Prof Harsh has served as president of the American Academy of Neurological surgery and also as president of Neurological Society of America.
The Kenya Association of Urological Surgeons held a conference in Vihiga and Kakamega County.
The Surgical camp venues were Kakamega county General Teaching and referral hospitals, Vihiga County Referral Hospital, Malava Sub-county hospital, St Elizabeth mision hospital Mukumu,St Mary,s Hospital Mumias ,Oasis Multi-Specialty Hospital and Lumino nursing and Maternity Hospital where surgeries were done.
