The first open heart surgery in Kenya was done in 1973. Even when the open heart surgery programme as we know it today, in 1975, a good number of heart patients still went abroad for open heart operations. We however won the bruising battle between advocates of overseas dependence and local development, at the close of the nineteen seventies and early eighties.

into American College of Surgeons

Dr. Daniel Kinyuru Ojuka was among 1,823 Initiates from around the world who

became Fellows of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) during the Convocation ceremony at the College’s 2016 annual Clinical Congress in Washington, DC, in October 2016.  The year 2016 class of Initiates was among one of the largest ever admitted into the College.
